Halodhiya Choraye Baodhan Khai: An Assamese Film

I have made a list regarding National Film Awards Winning Assamese Films in my previous post. The list includes ‘Rajat Kamal’ (Silver Lotus Award) and cash prize winner Assamese feature films. Today I am going to write about another Assamese feature film ‘Halodhiya Choraye Baodhan Khai’ (The Catastrophe) that won so many awards including Golden Lotus Nationa Award.

Halodhiya Choraye Baodhan Khai

Assamese director Jahnu Barua directed the movie ‘Halodhiya Choraye Baodhan Khai’. The film was released on  21 August 1987. This movie won the ‘National Award for Best Feature Film’ in 1988. Not only National Film Awards, but this movie also received several awards in different international events. Sailadhar Baruah produced Halodhiya Choraye Baodhan Khai along with Patkai Film Production company. Satya Baruah was the music director of the movie. I must confess that the movie is one of my favorite Assamese films. Although Jahnu Barua wrote the script ‘Halodhiya Choraye Baodhan’, the Author of the Original Work is Homen Borgohain. Indra Bania, Purnima Pathak, Badal Das, Pranjal Saikia, Hemen Choudhury and Gaurav Bania are the lead actor in the film.
